This Ranger 7 image captured from 2.3 seconds before impact presents a lunar area about one and two thirds miles across with craters ranging from 30 feet to 300 feet, including a round crater with a central angular rock mass possibly explaining its origin, per Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientists in Pasadena.

Sanford Starts Transferring Party Control to Moore

In Charlotte, North Carolina Democrats moved to unify after a split primary as Gov. Terry Sanford was named chairman of the 58 vote delegation to the Democratic National Convention and Dan Moore, the gubernatorial candidate, was named. Viet Cong Assault Near Saigon in Closest Battle Yet

Viet Cong forces attacked within three miles of Saigon, near Vinh Loc, firing heavy mortars and rifles.
