Horseplay Blamed For Firings In Franklin Hosiery Case
In Franklin North Carolina an NLRB examiner heard that two Franklin Hosiery Co employees Dolph Fouts and Boyd Holland were fired for horseplay rather than union activity. Witnesses described incidents including Ed Smith being boxed and stapled by the pair. Supervisors presented nine written reprimands between August 1958 and early 1960. The company defense argued no union leadership evidence and said defense evidence would finish by noon.
