R H Ramsey reviews the Wisdom literature with an eight to eleven week focus on Job and Proverbs. Proverbs is seen as a collection of maxims on practical piety, traditionally Solomon’s but now thought to involve multiple authors in a 500 BC to 150 BC compilation.
An eloquent meditation on wisdom as a divine gift and a path to truthful living. The text contrasts human understanding with trust in God, urging reverence, avoidance of evil companionship, and reliance on divine guidance for courage and discernment. It references Solomon Job and teachings distributed by Christian education divisions.
The Rev. Don Sidebottom missionary to Ethopia will speak at Oakhill Baptist Church Fair Grove Sunday at 11. He has served in Ethopia four years and plans to return in July. He will discuss poaching and wildlife decline in Africa and answer questions after the service.
Trinity Mount Pleasant Methodist Church on Hoover Hill Road holds its annual homecoming tomorrow. The Rev Dwight W Mashburn, a former minister now pastor of Trinity Church in Winstonham, will preach at the 11 a.m. worship service.
Gert Behan of Greensboro will speak at Wearying Methodist Church Wednesday evening about her life as a millionaire’s alcoholic daughter and her conversion at 53. Her public appearance follows the revival of her faith as she travels to witness to others.
A gospel sing set for tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the YMCA on Fourth Street features The Gospel Lights of Washington D. C. James Singers from Charlotte The Gospel Tones from Williamsburg Virginia and the Gospel All-Stars of Wilmington Delaware. Proceeds will go to the church building fund.
The Way of the Cross Baptist Church on Asheford Circle will observe its anniversary on Sunday. Rev. Glenn C. Calhoun will preach the homily as several singing groups perform. Dinner will be served on the grounds after the morning service.
Revival services began Friday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church and run through Sunday May 5 with Rev. H. L. Moore of Toccoa Georgia leading daily 7 30 p m services. Moore recently completed a tour of the Holy Lands England and Africa.

The Rev. R. Sam Parker of Neighbors Grove will lead evangelistic services at Hayworth Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church starting Sunday. The series ends Sunday May 5 with nightly services at 7 30. Parker is an ordained elder from the North Carolina Conference and a Central Wesleyan College graduate. Forrest Whitener, a Central Wesleyan College senior, will be song leader and soloist.
Revival services begin Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church with evangelist Dr. R. C. Foster. Nightly services through Sunday feature special music by Billy G. Barnes. Foster a Mocksville native and Wake Forest graduate plans missionary work in Belgium with his wife, leaving June 25.
C Wesley Levin will conduct revival meetings at Mount Zion Pilgrim Church starting tomorrow and the following Sunday. Levin, ordained for 19 years as a Wesleyan minister with pastorates in North Carolina, was elected conference president in 1956 and ordained by the general conference in 1963. The revival begins nightly at 7 30 p.m.
Dallas AP reports the United church plans a broad mobilization to aid the poor and meet a grave emergency. A special fund of reconciliation will fund large investments and a volunteer youth corps on a subsistence basis. The plan seeks cooperation with Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and other groups to address social ills and poverty.
First Church of God on S Main Street will host a week long revival from Monday through Sunday May 5 at 7 30 p m nightly. Rev William B Eddy pastor of Larchmont Church of God in Louisville ny will be the revivalist with Mrs Eddy leading the singing. Eddy will also preach at the May 5 10 30 a m worship service.
