German tank attack broken by British fire. 900+ prisoners taken. Allied lines strengthen near Ypres after recapture of Villers-Bretonneux and Mount Kimmel. French and British hold Locre and Voormezeele as Germans suffer heavy losses without decisive gains. Observers warn evacuation of Ypres could still occur.
Carter Dalton reports a flood of Liberty Loan subscriptions halted timely compilation of the honor roll in today’s Enterprise. A complete list will appear in Monday’s classified section. Correct totals show Company A leader Charles F. Long at $47,250. Company B leader J. E. Millis $62,350. Company C leader Randall B. Terry $55,950. Company D leader Gilbert W. Clark $67,200. grand total $232,750.
A Vienna newspaper quoted by Exchange Telegraph via The Hague states that blood will not be shed to retain German conquests. It condemns Germany's moves toward Lavonia and Estonia and questions Brest-Litovsk’s validity, warning another war may follow when Russia regains strength.
German artillery continues hammering Allied lines in the Ypres sector near Kimmel as General von Armin orders regrouping for a new thrust. No new German offensive was recorded in the early hours, despite the resumed hammering by German forces.
