Atlantic City New Jersey AP Miss America Terry Anne Meeuwsen decries the swimsuit competition as unnecessary and unnatural and urges its elimination. She spoke during the boardwalk Easter Parade noting the stress on contestants and judges’ ability to assess reactions.
In Houston the Press skipped the usual key to the city ceremony and instead gave Democratic National Chairman Robert Strauss a three foot high padlock for the new Democratic National Headquarters in Washington. Strauss joked he was nervous speaking into a microphone he could see for years, prompting a light moment at the ceremony.
The Guilford County Board of Equalization and Review will hold its first 1973 session May 7 at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners' Room Greensboro to review property valuations and hear taxpayers. Appeals must be filed by July 2, 1973. Meetings will continue in Greensboro and High Point, with notices to those heard.
