Duke University Plans May Commencement Ceremonies
Approximately 200 Duke University students will receive degrees at the May 24 25 commencement. Dr Walter Mark Depp will deliver the sermon at the university chapel Friday evening. Senator Clyde R Hoey will speak Saturday at 11 in Page Auditorium. Dr Robert L Flowers will preside at Friday events and introduce Hoey. An alumni luncheon and reunions are planned with trustee meetings and carillon recitals to follow.

Three Crewmen Die as Western Air Plane Crashes in California
A Western Air Lines test flight crashed into a house on Lankershim Boulevard in Burbank, killing three crewmen. The house occupants Matthew Brychter wife Mildred and children Ronnie Janet and Carol escaped unharmed as flames damaged the residence. The aircraft, piloted by Fiederoff with co-pilot Marvin Schwartzbach and mechanic Leon Turgeon, went down in fog four miles from the Lockheed terminal after an engine change and nearly two hours aloft.
