Four Escaped From Michigan State Pen During Week-End

Four prisoners escaped from the Michigan City prison over the weekend. Leland Phillips 26 serving a life term for murder and Noah Seals three-year sentence for second degree burglary left Saturday from the prison farm west of Michigan City. Two African American inmates Willard Butler 87 and Charles Irwin 38 both life terms for murder escaped Sunday. Butler was a cook for Warden Louis Kunkel and Irwin a barber shop janitor.
