Randolph approves courthouse expansion and health dept budget
Randolph commissioners awarded the three story courthouse addition contract with bids totaling about 90,989 including alternates. They accepted a 1973-74 Randolph County Health Department budget proposing salaries for seven nurses and a new administrator, totaling 335,210.18, plus space needs for the health department.

The Junior Senior Prom themed Evening in Venice at Four Seasons Holiday Inn Greensboro featured sopho more attendants led by Lisa Kinley Jo Ann Westmoreland and Robin Grimes. Gifts were given to sponsors Mrs. Jack Mundy and Mrs. Phyllis Stump. a photographers by Elmo March captured the event. A post prom breakfast at East Davidson cafeteria followed, with plans for a UNC campus visit by the FTA and a fish fry sponsored by East Davidson Boosters Club.

Regina Gatwood of Hickory still hopes her husband Air Force Lt. Robin Gatwood Jr. will return alive after being listed MIA since April 2, 1972. She placed an ad in the Hickory Record with his photo and the query Is he alive or dead. The Gatwoods have a 15 month old son, Robin Gatwood II.

Two Girls Injured In Wreck
Two young girls from Thomasville, Lorrie Diane Hayes 12 and Nila Anita Hayes 8, were treated and released after a two car crash on W Green Drive at Trinity Avenue. Driver Tammy Lynn Hayes also from Thomasville propelled the vehicle. The second driver was David Wesley Childress 26 of Trinity Rt.3. Other injuries included Beverly Byerly Welborn 23- Rt.3 Trinity and Frances Norman Kennedy of Liberty Road. Kennedy was cited for failure to reduce speed. Another minor crash occurred on Ward Avenue where Beverly Byerly Welborn was slightly injured and Frances Norman Kennedy charged with nothing. A third collision on the I-85 ramp at W Green Drive injured Thomas Allen Peterson 27 and Timothy Joseph Rowe 17 with no charges filed.
