Ross Armsworthy, a Virginia and East Tennessee territory salesman for Security Upholstery Co., balances travel and paper work in a three week cycle. He starts in Norfolk area, then Richmond, then western Virginia and East Tennessee, returning weekly to a hotel room. He tailors his sales approach to buyers and small-town store owners, with businesslike and personal touches respectively. Each Friday he goes home to 1426 Wiltshire Blvd., attends Main Street Methodist Church with his wife Virginia, and serves on church and High Point Furniture Club leadership roles. The High Point club, with about 100 salesmen, gears up for a July market and stronger promotions. A Thomasville native, Armsworthy has spent life in sales, with two deceased parents and sisters remaining.
