Stock Market Weakened Slightly Amid Broad Declines On Tuesday
The New York market edged lower after a four day run to new highs with many leading issues down fractions to more. U.S. government bonds rallied for the first time in nearly three weeks as select stocks bucked the trend including American Can Company and Allied Chemical. Major names such as General Electric and Texas Instruments showed modest gains while many others fell, and trading remained fairly active with around several million shares reported on the day.
