Fire crews respond to multiple High Point blazes
High Point firemen answered several calls Thursday with minor damage at three locations. A veneer loss occurred at Jimmy Mitchell Inc on Prospect Street when a rolled door struck a sprinkler head. The R H Hayes home on Dallas Avenue suffered small kitchen damage and minor burns to Hayes from a pan of grease. A car at 413 E Dayton Ave sustained $150 damage from a cigarette in the back seat. Other calls included a potential chimney fire on Model Farm Road, burning lumber near a construction site on Dogwood Court, and a false alarm on Green Drive and Smith Street.

Firemen Issue Burning Charge Against Local Man
Firemen signed a warrant against C. E. Hill Jr. of 206 Moffitt Drive for burning without a permit after responding to a vacant field on Moffitt where Hill was burning trash. Earlier, a Crestwood Circle resident was cited for burning leaves without a permit. No fire was involved at 208 W. Point Ave where an oil circulator overheated.
