Tennant Leaves Police Advisory Post May 21
High Point police acting chief Maj. Stewart Hartley discusses plans to fill the vacancy left by legal advisor James Tennant who served about three years. Civil Service will prepare a list of qualified candidates and a successor will be chosen by the new chief or named earlier with city manager approval if no chief is appointed. Tennant cites growing legal complexity and the department’s need for accessible advisory support as the reason for hiring near-universal access to legal counsel. Tennant will leave May 21 and begin work June 1 at the law firm Lloyd and Baker in High Point.
