Additional cutbacks include Pelzer Kendall plant and Pacolet Manufacturing Co in South and Georgia, with several others already pledging five day weeks.
Congress ends a 10 day Easter recess after freeing 275 million dollars for federal relief payments to the aged and others in May and June. House and Senate clashed since February over the money, with the Senate securing some gains but the dispute continuing. The bill omits funding for a minerals buying program the Senate preferred. President Eisenhower had asked for 30 million dollars.
Raleigh bulletin reports the House passed and sent to the Senate a charter revision bill enabling Thomasville residents to vote with fringe area citizens in annexation elections. The vote tally was 87 to 0.

Police recovered about 85 dynamite caps in Collinsville Oklahoma after a pair of teens admitted taking them. The caps were found in a little girl's coat pocket and at an old coal pit near a hotel, with several more tossed in a creek and a school waste basket. No explosions occurred as officials warned of deadly risk.
