Army May Convoy Troops To Government Fun Spots
NEA dispatch from Camp Shelby Mississippi describes the massive camp housing nearly 68 thousand soldiers as a practical facility with little recreation. Plans for week end recreation centers along the Gulf from New Orleans to Panama City include beaches, fishing, tennis and cheap transport. Soldiers may be ferried to beach resorts and a few may see a seaside attack on caricatures in shooting galleries. Beer parlors near the camp rise in number as morale concerns mount and officers worry about vice and bootlegging nearby.
