Stock Market Trading Quiet On Narrow Movement

New York April 18 The stock market moved along a narrow path with price changes near four and a low of around cents a share. Leaders opened unchanged from the prior close and remained there as earnings reports from large companies were generally positive but attracted little immediate interest. The market paused after a sharp advance last week that neared a new high for the year, possibly the best in more than 20 years. Companies edging higher included Texas Co Gulf Oil Johns Manville Public Service Electric Gas Allied Chemical Eastman Kodak American Woolen General Motors Chrysler Goodrich International Harvester and Climax Molybdenum. May Draft Call Reduced Amid Rising Volunteer Enlistments

Reserves Release Schedule Told

Assistant Secretary of Defense Anna Rosenberg said the army will begin releasing enlisted reservists involuntarily called to duty by September. British Officer Backs MacArthur Bombing Plan in Manchuria
