ATHENS April 17 The Greek government loses three veteran republicans George Pappandreou Sophocles Venizelos and Panayotis Kanellopoulos from the cabinet. The move leaves no center or moderate left representation. Constantin Tsaldaris plans to take the premiership possibly tonight as he pushes for a plebiscite on inviting King George II to return. Tsaldaris, sixty, helped lead Greek resistance and opposed exile governments.
About 2,500 Rock Island railroad workers planned a 6 P M walkout with unions claiming rule changes by the company. A union official said president Truman would likely intervene by naming a fact finding board, while noting roughly 55 000 in back pay had been paid to brakemen and broader system disputes lingered.

In New York on April 16 three boys aged six and seven burned to death while playing Buffalo Bill in an abandoned chicken coop used as a frontier post. Firemen saved a neighboring house as flames spread. The victims were Donald Trander, six, and Thomas Kenney and Thomas White, both seven. Police say the boys built a bonfire inside the coop.
Rep John H Folger says he will not name county managers for his fifth district renomination until next week He plans to confer with Sheriff John H Taylor district manager in Stokes county before making names public The delay follows an Easter recess and aims to let Folger rebuild political fences.
The North Carolina state optometric society opened its 39th annual convention in Charlotte on April 17. Activities run through Thursday with speakers Dr. Robert L. Wilson of Shelby Dr. Henry B. Day Sr and Dr. Henry B. Day Jr of Raleigh and Dr. E C. Pierce of Gastonia presiding as president of the society.
Rep Carl Durham of Chapel Hill demanded a war department defense brief from Undersecretary Kenneth Royall of Goldsboro and accused him of stalling to delay the House military affairs subcommittee report on drastic changes to the Army court martial system. Durham said no more delays would be granted after Friday and accused Royall of blocking publication until civilian attorneys could review the matter.
