Ferguson Shaft at Kings Mountain Proposed to honor Major Ferguson
A monument to Major Patrick Ferguson, leader at Kings Mountain, may rise on Kings Mountain in York County, South Carolina. The idea emerged October 7, with Col. L. T. Kirkpatrick of Charlotte driving support among Carolinians and others. Dr. Paul B. Jenkins suggested Ferguson’s old outfit place the monument if still existing, citing Braddock, Pennsylvania as precedent.
