Shirley Cleo Routh and Ronnie Dale Willard plan a July ceremony. she is a 1964 Allen Jay High School graduate employed by Pilot Life Insurance, he a 1962 Ledford High School graduate employed by National Foods. Nancy Irene Jarrell and Tommy Dale Miller announce their engagement. she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar P. Jarrell, he the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Miller. A June 4 wedding is planned for Emily Ann Glover and Leon Stokes Walker at Mills Home Baptist Church. she is a Gastonia native, Gardner-Webb alumna, and tutor at Baptist Children's Homes of NC. He is UNC Pharmacy School graduate, Mann's Drug Store manager, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Walker, and a Denton Lodge member.

Mrs Thomas recalls Hawaii trip at Burbank Garden Club
Mrs. Fred Thomas spoke at a Burbank Garden Club meeting in Emerywood Estates about her Hawaii trip. She described native greetings, emerald mountains, exotic birds, pineapple and sugar cane fields, and early Congregationalists. The club voted to donate a garden encyclopedia volume to the Sears center and noted junior workshop progress at Daniel Brooks with plantings of dogwood, zinnias, petunias, and pansies.
