High Point Soloist Seeks State Honors in Greensboro

Miss Pauline Ausband contralto, pupil of Dan Smith, will enter the North Carolina high school music contest in Greensboro next week. Critics call her one of the city’s most promising soloists as she represents High Point High School in the soloist class. A large glee club delegation from High Point will attend the state meet.

Ordinance Requires Full Stop at Main Street Crossing

City of High Point enacts a traffic rule stopping all motor vehicles when railroad gates on the Southern Railway Main Street crossing are down. Violators face $5 for the first offense and $10 for subsequent offenses, effective immediately per City Manager R. L. Pickett dated April 14, 1923.

Ordinance Bans Parking on East High Street Southside

City Council announces an ordinance banning motor vehicle parking on the south side of East High Street including Main Street and Wrenna Street. Fines start at five dollars for the first offense and ten dollars for subsequent offenses. The ordinance takes effect immediately and repeals conflicting laws. Dated April 14, 1923.
