The House of the Week X-1, by architect Rudolph A. Matern, combines teen, male, and female wants from national youth, men and women surveys. It features four bedrooms, a study or fifth room, a dining area, kitchen, recreation family room, and a separate master suite with den and workshop space.
The house features a lower foyer access to garage and recreation room with a five curved step separation to upper areas. A reverse curve stairway links floors while a 20-foot living room has a bow window and natural wood wall with offset fireplace. The master suite includes a folding wall to create two zones and a nursery option.
