Both Arms Reimplanted After Mining Accident
David Lynn Jackson and fellow miner Jerry Lee Duncan were injured when a 1,000 foot steel plate fell in a Gordonsville Tennessee zinc mine. Jackson, 19, had both arms reimplanted in a 12 hour operation at Jewish Hospital Louisville. Doctors estimate 60 percent use of his right arm and 40 percent of his left. Duncan lost his right arm. Jackson described the moment as he moved to shield Duncan and the plate shattered their positions.
