Mrs. J. E. Mishoe reported a license plate stolen from a car on Cagle Street. The plate CED 118 was taken from a home in Thomville. A separate theft at Thomason Chevrolet on National Highway involved tires and wheels valued at 500 dollars. Lloyd Batten, 57, was charged with larceny of money and jailed in Lexington.
Ken James of Greensboro was appointed to the Industrial Management Advisory Board at Guilford Technical Institute. GTI President Luther R. Medlin announced the appointment after Richard Stack of Carter Fabrics resigned due to a schedule change. James represents the Lee Street Plant of Blue Bell Inc.
Durham North Carolina Fuller, son of Mr and Mrs William Fuller of Rt 1 High Point and a senior geography major at North Carolina Central University, recently received the National Council of Geographic Education Award during campus ceremonies for outstanding scholastic achievement.
A 10 year old boy was taken into custody and charged with unlawful burning after his family's home on W Ward Avenue was heavily damaged by a fire. The mother said she found a fire in a dresser and removed the children to the tub. Firemen reported the alarm at 7 48 p m and said the house was fully involved. The boy allegedly set the clothes on fire while playing with matches. The crime occurred as the mother left the home to fetch the other children.
Ninety six Randolph Technical Institute students earned winter quarter Honor Roll honors. High Point honorees include Christine Rogers Andy C Summers Diane K Myrick Helen B Allred and Katherine L Lambeth. Randomen students listed are Linda G Bowman Dorothy S Laughlin Richard J McCurry and William A Pierce. Also named are Sandy L Younts of Thomasville Betty A Halton and Eunice M Mcreath of Denton.
Guilford Technical Institute sees enrollment reach 7 771 for the current spring quarter up from 5 507 a year earlier. Continuing education enrollment totals 6 202, a 48 1 percent rise from last year, with enrichment courses accounting for a small share of total offerings.
