Columbus log hoax sold as Columbus voyage record
A Huntington Library exhibit features fake nineteenth century logs claiming to be Christopher Columbus voyage records. Curator Carey Bliss notes buyers paid 5 to 6 dollars for a parchment bound book printed in Elizabethan English with shells and seaweed decorations, produced in Germany in 1892 to mark Columbus 400th anniversary.

Daily Free Press to be sold after long run in Kinston
The Daily Free Press in Kinston North Carolina, a 92 year old daily with 13000 circulation, announced in Monday editions that it would be sold within months. Editor H Galt Braxton died in February and his widow died last month, leaving two daughters as survivors.
