Fire kills three children in Back Bay apartment blaze
In Boston an early morning fire swept a four story brick Back Bay building killing Mr and Mrs Wassell and their three children Suzanne 5 Linda 3 and Peter 2 as well as Patrolman Robert Mahar 45 and Mrs Napoleon Lapete. Suzanne Mahoney 23 was critically injured. Mahar died of burns. Fires in nearby Belvedere Street Huntington Avenue and Irvington Street prompted arson unit scrutiny with damage listed at 10 dollars.

Death by Own Action Claimed in Blonde Hepburn Case
In San Francisco on April 10 a dead 21 year old blonde, Virginia Hepburn, was found on a hotel balcony after a weekend. Police Inspector Alvin Corrasa said her death appeared to be self inflicted after two prior suicide attempts and hospital confinement. Army Lieut. H A Blankenship and Lieut Steven Ondrusek identified as occupants of the room. The coroner put time of death at six to eight hours before discovery.
