Smallpox cases mount in North Carolina urge vaccination

Raleigh reports 250 cases last month prompting state health officials led by Dr. F M Register to renew the push for universal vaccination. He cites Australia and New Zealand's lack of recent cases and notes larger cities’ totals are included in county counts. He warns of spread to other counties and stresses vaccination as the only safe course. He calls on all residents to cooperate to stamp out the preventable disease.
