Speaker of House Dies in Aiken After Illness
Nicholas Longworth, Speaker of the House, died in Aiken South Carolina at 10 49 AM after pneumonia struck a lung. His wife Alice Roosevelt and Mrs James F Curtis were by his bedside as brothers Kermit and Archibald Roosevelt rushed to reach him. Longworth arrived March 30 for rest after demanding duties and had played golf before his illness worsened this week.
