Davidson County Will Get Museum At Old Courthouse

Davidson County commissioners support a project to convert the upstairs of the old courthouse into a museum with a $500 bond and $85,000 for construction. The Robert E. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy requested space, and a bell is planned to be installed. A Thomasville Furniture site need for water and possible sewer lines near Trinity Street and Unity Street Extension prompted a study by a committee including Warner, Huss, and Glosson. Sewer concerns arise as rural Davidson County lacks sewer facilities. Also noted were board changes at Davidson County Community Action and renovations bids for the old courthouse estimated at 15,000 to 20,000. County tax revenue and intangible tax reliance discussed amid a potential state tax change.
