H Bomb Recovered After Palomares Crash
The United States says a 20 megaton hydrogen bomb missing since the January 17 Palomares crash was found March 15 in 2,500 feet of water about five miles offshore. The recovery used the Alvin sub and a torpedo recovery vehicle flown from Pasadena. The bomb was intact and not damaged, part of four lost from the B52 collision that killed seven airmen.
