North Carolina Girl Club Rivalry Heats Up for State Short Course
Raleigh April 3 North Carolina home demonstration girls compete for attendance at the state short course as selections are made from top home making projects. Mrs. Jane McKimmon says the aim is to learn updated housekeeping methods and train others in clubs. Donah Shouse of Forsyth County demonstrated biscuit making at a community fair and prompted prize trips from local organizations. The 1923 course Expected in early June or late July could draw 250 to 300 top club girls from across the state.

Sleeps Over Troubles At Still New Out On Bond
Martinsville, April 4. Henry Martin, a Black man, said he slept when officers raided two stills near Drunken Springs. He was arrested but released on a 250 dollar bond. One still held 75 gallons and the other 25. Drunken Springs got its name from old tobacco farmers who spent nights there with hogs heads pierced for an oxen shaft while transporting leaf to Danville market.
