Greene County mob lynches man after escape aid claims
A mob of about 100 unmasked men seized Joseph Black from Lenoir county jail near Kinston and shot him, later found dead on a Greene County road near Snow Hill. Black allegedly helped his son William Black flee after the boy, 16, was charged with assaulting a 6 year old girl. Sheriff Williams moved the prisoner to safety in Kinston. the mob's path suggests Greene County origins. The son remains in state prison in Raleigh after a running fight in which both a deputy and the man were lightly wounded.

Palmer Guilty of Keeping Whisky for Sale
Judge Carter Dalton found Earle Palmer guilty of keeping whisky for sale while his wife was acquitted. Palmer was sentenced to four months on the roads after authorities found nearly three gallons of corn whisky in a hidden wall recess during a dawn search led by Officers Carroll and Wood. an appeal was noted to the Superior Court.

Boy Injured by Inspector Vehicle At Rail Crossing
Ernest Cassady twelve years old, sitting on the railroad track at the Carolina and Yadkin Valley crossing around 10 this morning, was struck by a Ford car used on the track. He suffered a head wound likely a fractured skull and was taken to the hospital where an operation was performed.
