Ten white students from the University of Dubuque Iowa exchange places with ten Black students from Johnson C Smith in Charlotte for a week. The Dubuque group says they seek no agenda and aim for awareness while the Smith campus hosts them with minimal supervision and typical college experience.
Italian architect Arturo Mezzi Dimi has had his three story town hall plan for Addis Ababa approved by Emperor Haile Selassie. The design includes conference and recreation halls a cinema restaurant and office space.
At a Washington luncheon the Research Triangle Foundation backed Cape Fear River basin development. Army Engineers urged New Hope Dam near Moncure in Chatham County to supply water for the Research Triangle, with Sen. B Everett Jordan calling it essential to store water within ten miles of the triangle. Rep Harold Cooley was absent. Governor Terry Sanford, Luther Hodges and seven NC congressional members attended.
