Lincoln Falk of Main Street Baptist Church will discuss The Secret of a Happy Marriage in an evening service. The event will honor couples he has married and newlyweds with gifts and special seating. It opens a series on Courtship Marriage and the Home and is open to the public.
The Reserve Officers Association troop school meets at 7:30 PM on the second floor of the post office building. Capt C E Reitzel Jr directs the school. Capt S H Strickland and Capt S E Holt will discuss National Guard duties. Maj A P McGee will attend and show two army motion pictures. Tea is grown on 123000 acres in Russia.
The Lewis Body Company relocates from 122 Willowbrook Street to 212 East High Street occupying the entire two story building about 75 feet by 150 feet. Manager Mr. Lewis says the new space will better serve customers with room for cars equipment and a large fenced side lot.
A car skidded and rolled upside down near Maritzburg South Africa. All six passengers escaped with no injuries.
Dr Ralph McDonale survived a severe facial injury when his car ran off a slippery Raleigh road. A jagged cut near his eye and a deep gash on his cheek narrowly missed fatal damage. He will cancel April engagements but is expected to recover with facial scars.
Guilford County Board of Elections designates High Point Township precincts for the May 25 and June 22 primaries and the November 1940 general election. A county-wide registration is ordered for April 27 to May 11 with registrars registering at polling places. Precinct 1 polling place is 209 Parkway. Precinct 4 begins at Southern Railway and South Main Street.
Guilford County Board of Elections lists precinct boundaries and polling sites for High Point. Precincts 5 through 18 designate streets and landmarks including County Building Five Points Sandwich Shop Fire Stations 4 and 6 1009 Tryon Street 1900 Green Street Cloverdale School Oak Hill School National Guard Armory Southern Builders Inc. and Sinclair Refining Co. Plant as polling locations with date stamp March 23 1940.
