Collier Cobb Sees No Oil Evidence in North Carolina
Dr. Collier Cobb head of UNC geology says there is no geological evidence of oil in North Carolina despite surface oil sightings. Speaking at a Sigma Xi dinner in Chapel Hill he describes dome structures in the coastal plains and notes swamps and Albemarle sound show vegetation growth rather than oil formation. He warns it may be many millions of years before swamp oil becomes petroleum.
