Rules Cited For Cafes Formerly Serving Butter
J F Jones of the local rationing board says eateries that served butter between April 1 and 15, 1943 must still provide a butter substitute or jelly with meals or deduct the butter cost from the price. He notes butter is scarce and points-heavy, so some substitute keeps meals priced. Some restaurants declined substitutes, while the price panel advised continuing a small jelly portion to cover butter costs.
