Lima, April 2. A motion for a new hearing on George Remus's application for a writ of habeas corpus was overruled by the third district court of appeals. Remus had been granted the writ Friday. bond release was sought after the ruling. Arguments were heard on bail pending continued state efforts to keep him in the Lima state hospital for the criminal insane.

Kansas City April 2. The committee on arrangements met to select a temporary chairman and keystone speaker for the Republican national convention. Discussion centered on possible candidates, with Senator George H. Moses of New Hampshire mentioned most often as a leading possibility.
In Durham on April 2 during the Welsh Guards challenge cup race at the brigade steeplechases the Prince of Wales was thrown twice. His horse Miss Muffet was badly hurt the second time and could not rise at first. The prince escaped injury and remounted, with misses Muffet regaining wind to finish.
