A motorist later identified as Kurt Willie Englehardt of Ft. Bragg and Kenosha Wisconsin was found dead at 6 a.m. in a crashed car on U S 176 three miles south of Flat Rock. Residents reported hearing the crash between 3 and 4 a.m. The car left the highway on a sharp curve locally known as Dead Man's Curve.
