Abel Kenneth Hewitt won the sub freshmen declaimers medal for his speech Opportunities of the Scholar. M Joseph Kluttz earned the junior orators medal with Greater America.
Rev. B A Yorke to preach at Grace Chapel next Sunday at 11 o clock and at Houcks Chapel at p m attendance hoped for. J T Prevette and Mrs Alice Prevette of North Wilkesboro visited. H G Kopenhaver resigned as Star Town High principal to join St Paris Ohio as pastor and teacher. Richard Little declined Newton Graded Schools superintendency. Elliott family attended Shriners meeting in Greensboro then house party in Durham. Beard school closed for year, term praised as best yet. R T Ashcraft of Charlotte bought Lowe & Company stock, disposition undecided. Dr H L Abernethy took Mrs Marvin Clay to Long Sanatorium. doctor said operation too late. North Carolina Classis of Reformed Church barred girls from Catawba College Newton and assigned Claremont College to trustees for next two years. class adjourned Wednesday.
