Death on the Bridgewater tracks Lem Abernethy Dies in Train Collision
G Shuford Abernethy perished near Bridgewater when a coal train struck him and companion Robert Hodge. The accident occurred as they stepped onto the main line to avoid another train. Hodge survived after injuries. Abernethy was a noted lumber firm member and beloved family man. Funeral held at the Methodist church with many mourners and tributes from Dr Murphy and Dr Weaver. Surviving siblings include Mrs Cilley, Mrs Lyerly, Grace, Ruth, Alice, Fred, and Edgar.
