At a Durham Standard Oil tank farm, a gas explosion about 2 30 pm killed Webb Holloway who was atop the tank repairing it. Raleigh July 24 A warrant is sworn out against ex Sheriff Ham Jones charging murder of a negro man in Wake Forest township. He plans to return home for a preliminary trial. Special to The News Wilmington July 24 Miss Ma bel Trotter of Charlotte and Mr Jas Hooper found a large sea turtle on the beach near the Atlantic Yacht Club. After help from four men they turned the turtle on its back and secured it. They tied the animal and pulled it to the club house. The next day 128 eggs were found buried in the sand. The turtle, valued around 10 dollars, was sold to Seashore Hotel for consumption.

Cicero Fulp walking home from Concord church along the railroad track was robbed at pistol point and forced to surrender fifteen cents.
