Our Hydro-Electric Development on Catawba River
A historical overview details M E Thornton's push to develop hydro electric power on the Catawba river at Hickory. It traces efforts since 1894 to secure lands and rights, nearby shoals, and financing, leading to a planned 3000 to 5000 horsepower plant with extensions, and Thornton's resignation from the presidency to avoid delays.
