The Page News reports in Luray Virginia that Ambrose L Henkel of New Market joined Henkel relatives at Germantown exhuming Pastor Antony Henkel founder of American Lutheranism. The tomb preserved 188 years and yielded a female then male remains. The Henkel lineage includes Ambrose C H Henkel Paul Rev Ambrose and six other brothers, all preachers except one physician.

Death of Rev Dr J C Clapp noted as a beloved educator and preacher. Born 1892 in Guilford, he led Catawba College from 1885 to 1900, served as pastor of the German Reformed church, and mentored hundreds. He dies at home in Newton on the eve of his golden wedding anniversary, survived by Emma Lewis Clapp and several children. Funeral held at the college chapel, crowded with mourners.

Company A Heads to Chickamauga Park Encampment
Company A of the North Carolina National Guard will depart Monday on train No 11 to Asheville to join ten other companies and proceed to Chickamauga Park for a ten day encampment. Sgt Wadlington U S A notes the unit is in good condition and the Asheville party will join headquarters there. The Charlotte Hospital Corps and Asheville Band will meet in Asheville for supper. A Saturday 200 yard range shoot produced varied scores led by Corporal Bowman with 20 and Sgt Wadlington with 17. The unit has operated without county or civic funding and is praised for rapid progress under Captain G W Payne and lieutenants Claude Keever and George Huffman.

Col M E Thornton Sells Water Bonds For Catawba Power Plant
Col M E Thornton president of Thornton Light Power and of the Hickory Water Power Electric Company announces sale of 1 million dollars in bonds to New York financiers for a hydro electric plant on the Catawba river near Hickory North Carolina. The project would develop about 9000 horsepower and attract a cotton mill as an immediate energy customer. A Canadian invention for an electric iron ore smelting furnace may be manufactured using this power, costing about 750000 dollars and capable of eight to nine thousand tons of iron per year. Construction to begin as soon as August, with railroad tracks built west of Lenoir College to the river to haul ore and equipment.
