Forest Study Aims to Guard North Carolina Resources
The North Carolina Geological and Economic Survey partners with the U S Forest Service to launch a state wide forest condition study this summer. Field work begins near Cherokee county as investigators interview lumbermen landowners and residents to map forest land by county type timber stand and industrial demand. The project seeks to determine forest land use protection and supply needs and assess lumbering methods to reduce waste while weighing forest allied industries and other land uses for a perpetual timber supply.

Tampa and other Florida towns showed large increases in under fourteen workers, including native whites relocating for the trade. Cotton mills also employed many children ten to twelve hours daily, photographed repeatedly.
