Southern Power Company plans rapid progress on water power at Lookout Shoals with a standard ganged railway from Hickory to the dam site. Rights of way secured from Hickory to Lookout Shoals except eight properties. Material for the line to be shipped to Hickory Conover and Claremont then moved to the project. 8000 horsepower expected and distribution routed toward Taylorsville Newton Conover and nearby areas.

Millionaire Pauper Dies in Elizabeth City
John Louis Hinton of Pasquo tank died near Elizabeth City on January 18 at age 89. Despite a fortune of 11,000,000 and holdings in real estate across the states, he lived simply, never cashing checks, and preferred sales secured by property or life insurance. His sons recently sold Main Street property to Kramer Brothers for 20,000, leaving five sons and two daughters.
