Mr W J Shuford of the Hickory Seed Co and Mr R L Shuford visited Gaston county to inspect a 13 4 inch long staple cotton developed by Mr Lewis. Lewis sold 24 bales this year at 24 1 2 cents. Hickory Seed Co plans to handle up to 10000 bushels at 2 50 a bushel, with Simpson and Kings seed already in market for 50000 bushels. Farmers urged to grow it and avoid Eastern North Carolina.

Passenger From Hickory Killed In Elmwood Train Stop
A well dressed man about 37 boarded train No 12 at Hickory to Elmwood and was killed when he jumped from the car before it stopped. The body arrived in Salisbury at 8 30 and Wright's undertakers handled it. No ID found, $935 cash, rubber boots and a black suit noted. A Walden Works silver water bottle was found on him. The Elmwood ticket purchaser is unknown.
