Thaw Case Moves Toward Civil Hospital Transfer
At a special term of the New York Supreme Court Justice Tompkins heard Mary Thaw petitioning to transfer her son Harry Thaw to a civil hospital arguing improper treatment after his acquittal. The judge asked for briefs and may hear witness testimony to decide if further action is needed.

Marion December 12 One of the county s greatest acts of heroism occurred when Mrs John Lewis of Vein Mountain sacrificed her life Friday afternoon to save her three children from a fire Her clothing caught fire at a fireplace she rushed toward the bed to smother the flames The children in the adjoining room rushed to help Their mother leaped from a window to escape the flames and ran several hundred feet before collapsing and dying The Charlotte Observer notes the event and mentions Christmas tree candies at Whitener Martin.

May Nicholson wedding at Hotel Brookford
An evening ceremony last Sunday December 12 at Hotel Brookford joined K J L May and Miss Cora Nicholson in marriage in the hotel parlor performed by Dr J L Murphy with many friends as witnesses. Afterward guests gathered in the ale room for supper. Senator Hernando D Money of Mississippi was elected minority leader by the Democratic caucus, with Senator Shevely of Indiana named vice chairman.
