Reflection on Commission In Fallout From Freight Conference
Concord Times reprints a news column on the pace Freight Rate Conference. Chief Justice Clark acted to defend the people of the state while John Mitchell of Hickory attracted little support for his critique of the North Carolina Corporation Commission. The Freight Rate Association praised the proposition as progress but offered no further endorsement. Mitchell renounced attacking the commission and allowed resolutions to honor the commission and the Special Freight Rate Commission. The sentiment from the conference aligned with Mitchell and Times’ view that he gained little comfort. Raleigh News and Observer noted Mitchell dropped his personal tribute to Col A A Thompson, a Raleigh manufacturer.
