Hickory seeks restored C N W shops with inducements

Hickory Chamber of Commerce and Merchants Association urge bringing back the Carolina and Northwestern shops burned at Chester. They plan to offer inducements, courts to locate here, and coordinate with Capt Nichols. Hickory leaders, including the mayor and merchants, push for the shops and offer facilities from Piedmont Foundry. Lincoln ton invited temporarily.

Contracts for New Bridge and Farmers Institute at Connelly Springs

Reports show the bridge project between Catawba and Alexander counties advancing with bids from multiple firms. The Yuego Bridge Co will supply steel work for 36800. Abee & Co. 2800 for concrete piers. approaches cost about 800. bids from Roanoke Bridge Co and others. The Farmers Institute at the Yard, Whisnant & Co. drew 900 attendees with talks by Parker Conover and others. the event plans an annual future.

Dr White Sells Out to Dr Wood in Wyoming City

Good Roads Efforts Outline Caldwell County Projects

Caldwell County Good Roads Association pushes road improvements with several grade upgrades. Alfred the pressent recently let a contract to amend the Catawba River bridge for a new roughly one mile hill above the river at about four percent. A survey outlines an amendment from Peace Chapel to Mr Swanson's shop adding a not over three percent grade along about a mile. A preliminary survey near Taylor Style southeast of Lower Creek aims for a three percent grade on less than a mile of road. The group seeks public support and continued aid for these improvements.

Thief Steals Jewelry From Rhodes Store

Burglars pried open a rear window of J. C. Rhodes store Wednesday night and stole nearly $1,000 in jewelry. Rings worth about $500 were taken from trays in the showcase along with other jewelry and silverware. Watches under repair also vanished. A $50 reward is offered for the thief and $100 for the stolen goods.
