Death of R W Johnston Senior Presbyterian Elder in Hickory
One of Hickory's oldest citizens Mr R W Johnston aged over 82 and a longtime Presbyterian elder died Friday morning at Mrs L M Totten's home. Survived by three children Frank Johnston Mrs Totten and Mr Vance Johnson of Baltimore. Funeral conducted by Rev J G Garth at the Presbyterian church. Johnston born May 7 1828 in Poplar Tent NC moved to Hickory in 1874 and joined the church 1873.
