Auto Mishap Demolishes Java Areba Light Post

Gasoline Tax Takes Effect in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania's new gasoline tax of one cent per gallon became effective September 1. State officials estimate the levy will raise $2,000,000 to $2,500,000 annually. Retailers must collect the tax and post notice that the state tax is included in the price, with the Auditor General listing nearly 24,000 gasoline dealers.

Hershey Volunteer Fire Company held a Tuesday meeting where the Fire Truck Committee recommended buying from Packard Motor Car Company. The unit, a Twin-six chassis with Northern Body, costs 5541.75 and includes 1200 ft of hose, ladders, lighting, extinguishers, towing brackets, and a Northern Rotary Fire Pump. Child Struck by Auto Injures Union Deposit Girl

Evelyn Ebersole, daughter of Ralph Ebersole of Union Deposit, was struck by a truck while crossing Chocolate Avenue Friday at noon. She was taken to Harrisburg for treatment at Harrisburg Hospital dispensary and her injuries were not serious.
