A Liberty Loan guidance chart lists weekly subscription amounts by wages and dependents to earn flags and stars. Treasury official J H Burton outlines quotas, blue stars for excess, and a plan tying contributions to family size and income across ten wage bands.
W G McAdoo urges all children to participate in Liberty loan drives. He frames youths as soldiers of the Liberty loan and calls on every school age child to carry patriotism into homes and help sell Liberty bonds.
The Hershey Red Cross Branch postpones its regular business meeting and officers election from October 1 to Tuesday evening October 8. Members are urged to attend promptly at 7 o'clock due to the importance of the meeting after the patriotic gathering at the YWCA.
Loyal Hershey crowds pack screenings as Screen Classis presents To Hell With the Kaiser starring Lawrence Grant and Olive Tell. The program includes a one reel comedy and a 9 act version of Les Miserables with William Farnum in the title role, plus Hearst-Pathé News No. 66.
A special train carrying trophies from France Belgium and other countries will reach Hershey on Friday October 11 at 9 AM and stay until 9 50 AM. It will be on the Freight Station siding. The Liberty Loan Committee of the 3rd Federal Reserve District sponsors the exhibit. T P Myers will lead the party along with four speakers a Marine guard and other staff.
The Liberty Loan Rally in Hershey at the Park Theatre drew near capacity thanks to Saturday’s placards and Monday preparations. Capt A Wells Ingram of the British Red Cross spoke on wartime conditions in Serbia and shared vivid accounts of suffering in France Belgium Italy and England. Rev Dr Robert Bagnell of Harrisburg just returned from Europe also addressed the crowd.
The speaker spoke briefly due to another meeting that evening at Hummelstown. He noted that soldiers overseas watch Americans closely and expect bold support for the Fourth Liberty Loan. Four soldiers and a chorus of girls led singing with Harrisburg Municipal Band accompaniment.
The Hershey Reserves meet Mondays and Fridays on the Press building third floor. Enrollment has passed 125. organizers aim for 250 war strength. Capt. Stine of the Harrisburg Reserves drilled the locals Tuesday, praising officers and urging all members to attend at 7 30 sharp each week.
